Creative Associates International seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Activity in Cameroon. This will be a five-year activity with the overall goal to empower communities and government institutions to take the lead in preventing and countering violent extremism. The COP will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design and implementation of programmatic, operational, and administrative activities. 

This position is open to citizens of Cameroon and expatriates. Position will likely be based between Yaounde and Maroua 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project budget, design and planning, monitoring and reporting, and work in close coordination with technical and operations teams to ensure successful integration of activities. 
  • Ensure high-quality, results-oriented technical programming through hands-on guidance and support grounded in the project’s strategic objectives and approved annual workplans. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison with USAID on management and technical matters. 
  • Take a leadership role in coordination with USAID and key stakeholders, including partners, government stakeholders, civil society, and other USAID projects. 
  • Ensure that all project activities are compliant with USG rules and regulations, as well as consistent Creative’s policies, procedures and best practices. 
  • Ensure a responsive and innovative approach to developing the capacity of government and civil society actors. 
  • Represent the project at conferences, working groups, and meetings to support USAID and Creative’s thought leadership in local governance, capacity development, and civil society strengthening. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development or other relevant field. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum ten years of experience in the successful implementation of international development programs in fragile and fluid environments. 
  • Experience and technical expertise working on CVE, conflict prevention, peacebuilding, human rights, and/or in-depth experience leading a highly sensitive program in a violence prevention context highly. 
  • Experience designing and implementing large, complex USAID-funded programs and/or other donor programs of similar size and complexity. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments, navigate sensitive issues, and develop and maintain relationships with different stakeholders, including civil society organizations, government institutions, private sector entities, and US Government agencies. 
  • Fluency in English and French is required. 
  • Experience working in Cameroon desired.
