Position Location: Sirdarya,Namangan, Uzbekistan

Project Description:

The USAID-funded Uzbekistan All Children Succeeding Activity aim to improve the learning outcomes of Uzbekistani primary school students. To achieve this, the activity will strengthen the capacity of education sector systems to provide quality learning environments with the instruction, materials and support that children need while they are in school, at home, or in the community. Aligning professional development curriculum and training with universal design for learning, inclusive education (IE) principles and practices will be an integral part of this activity; therefore, interventions will work to enhance in-service training to support improved disability inclusive education and foundational skills acquisition.

 

The Local Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Couching and Mentoring Manager with support from the Teacher Professional Development Lead. S/he will support the integration of Inclusive Education principles and practices in school-based continuous professional development and in-service training for teachers, administrators, and other education professionals. The Local Coordinator will work with schools and regional/district education departments, conduct and coordinate training programs that reflect and support UDL, SEL, foundational skills acquisition, and diverse representation.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with “Inson” centers, regional/district level Education Departments to coordinate activities and manage relationships among model schools/kindergartens, training hubs, mainstream schools.
  • Implement and manage teacher training / workshop attendance information system based on USAID indicators and the projects monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) plan.
  • Organize research visits for piloting and implementation of the MERL plan, including setting up focus group discussions, managing survey research and facilitation of classroom observations.
  • Prepare Model Schools/ training hubs for upcoming trainings, research, partner visits or events.
  • Collaborate with regional teacher training center for organizing short term training for pilot schools’ stakeholders, including educators, parents, DPO leaders, and community members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in pedagogical field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in education or social protection management field in Sirdarya or in Namangan regions.
  • At least 2-years classroom experience in primary grades with preferred experience in in-service teacher training.
  • Understanding of inclusive education and commitment to the mission of the All Children Succeeding (ACS) Activity.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing teacher professional development focusing on universal design for learning, child-centered pedagogy, and/or other inclusive approaches to preschool and/or primary school education preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing events / project management.
  • Ability to travel to Tashkent for meetings and workshops as needed.
  • Microsoft Office products experienced user.
  • Fluent in Uzbek and professional proficiency in Russian.

Note: Candidates must be resident in Namangan or Sirdarya region
